The Spiritual Root of Disease
SCRIPTURE:
When Jesus saw her, he called her over. “Woman, you’re free!” He laid hands on her and suddenly she was standing straight and tall, giving glory to God. (Luke 13:12 MSG)
Remember the story in Luke, chapter 13, about the woman, whose body was so misaligned and bowed, she “could in no wise lift up herself” (verse 11). Scripture also makes clear that her affliction was caused by a “spirit of infirmity” (verse 11). It doesn’t say she had a crippling, arthritic condition or some similar diagnosis that doctors would give today. I’m certainly not coming against the skill and expertise of doctors—God has gifted many of them to minister the healing that they do. But how many people today are similarly troubled, in both their bodies and their minds, yet we pin the cause on everything except the spiritual malice that I believe is at the root of every disease?
Jesus, on the other hand, recognizing and identifying the source of the woman’s suffering, simply laid hands on her and put His words to work: “Woman, thou art loosed from thine infirmity” (Luke 13:12). The power of God flowed then, and she was instantly delivered of that foul spirit, enabling her to stand up straight for the first time in nearly two decades.
What the world truly needs are heaven’s solutions, provisions, and prescriptions—they are permanent, completely restorative, and with no side effects!
PRAYER:
Dear Father, I thank You for Your Word operating in my life to manifest Your promises of deliverance, healing, provision, and protection. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
