God Is Our Protection
SCRIPTURE:
(Jesus) hath made us kings and priests unto God and his Father; to him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. (Revelation 1:6)
DEVOTIONAL:
We are not only kings but also priests to our God. Jesus Christ is our High Priest (Hebrews 2:17), and we are His priestly representatives on Earth.
What do priests do? Priests worship the Lord with all their hearts and lives, and they are mediators between the Lord and people who don’t know Him. A king stands before the people for God, but a priest stands before the Lord for the people and leads the people into His presence. These roles speak of our purpose: to have dominion and to make disciples of all nations.
People around the world are living in the shadow of terrorism, and we know that Jesus is their only hope to overcome all fear and defeat the enemy. Ever since 9/11, the United States has been consumed with security and safety issues, and the Church should be the beacon of light in this frightening darkness. People need our faith and confidence in the Lord to protect them. And they need to hear the Good News!
Now is the time to say, “Come on over to my house and hear about Jesus. You can have His peace and know He is protecting you. I know things are frightening out there, but in your heart you can have joy. You can have a sound mind that knows the truth.”
PRAYER:
Dear Lord, I worship You with all my heart and life—thank you for all You’ve done for me. You are my Savior, Healer, Deliverer, Protector, and Provider! In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
