SCRIPTURE:

“I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing” (John 15:5)

DEVOTIONAL:

God is not sending us into the marketplace to bring religion. He is sending us to bring forth from heaven creative ideas, inventions, insights, and solutions that will preserve the earth, solve humanity’s problems, and point people to Jesus. God’s assignments require the power of the supernatural, not theological doctrine and religious precepts.

Jesus said, “I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing” (John 15:5). If we are to bring forth much fruit in business, education, government, media, arts and entertainment, and the family, we must learn how to abide in the Vine and think like the Father. Under the New Covenant we have the mind of Christ and the wisdom of God (1 Corinthians 2:16; Colossians 1:27). When God told Isaiah that “my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways” (Isaiah 55:8), He was talking about unsaved men and women who didn’t have the Holy Spirit.

That changed when Jesus came. He restored our lordship, rulership, and relationship with the Father, “that through the church the manifold wisdom of God might now be made known to the rulers and authorities in the heavenly places” (Ephesians 3:10 ESV). God’s plan from the beginning was for us to rule this planet by thinking and acting like Him. After all, God said, “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness” (Genesis 1:26).

PRAYER:

Dear God, thank you that I have been made in Your image. I declare that I have the mind of Christ. I abide in Jesus, the Vine, and bear much fruit. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
