SCRIPTURE:

“And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion.… And God blessedthem, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion.” (Genesis 1:26, 28)

DEVOTIONAL:

Adam and Eve ruled and replenished the Garden of Eden with the same power God used to create the earth, and God called that power The Blessing. Adam and God were one, in perfect fellowship and communion. When God told Adam to name all the animals He had created, Adam didn’t struggle to think up names or search through textbooks. He simply downloaded, or discerned, the names God had already given them.

Adam was never meant to do anything in the earth that wasn’t already done. He was not made sovereign, which means without the need for an overlord or outside assistance. Adam needed God for revelation, prosperity, and preservation. When Adam sinned through disobedience, he lost The Blessing and God’s provision for him…

We know Adam lost The Blessing because of Proverbs 10:22, which says, “The blessing of the Lord brings wealth, without painful toil for it” (NIV). Without The Blessing, Adam lost his dominion and ability to replenish the earth supernaturally and subdue it. Instead of being master over God’s creation, he became its servant. This was the fate of all mankind until God spoke The Blessing to Noah in Genesis 9:1 and later to Abraham in Genesis 12.

PRAYER:

Dear God, thank you that the same Blessing You gave to Abraham now belongs to me, too, through my Lord Jesus Christ. I walk in The Blessing every day of my life and experience victory in every situation. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
