The Importance of Focus
SCRIPTURE:
And Elisha prayed, and said, Lord, I pray thee, open his eyes, that he may see. And the Lord opened the eyes of the young man; and he saw: and, behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire round about Elisha. (2 Kings 6:17)
DEVOTIONAL:
When you see what’s in the invisible by faith, you don’t have to stumble in the dark for solutions. George Washington Carver said he never had to grope for answers. When he went into what he called “God’s little workshop” (his laboratory), he said God just pulled back the curtains and he could see. Through his seeing, Carver developed more than three hundred products from peanuts, including milk, cooking oil, cosmetics, insulation, soap, lotions, and shaving cream.
The fact that you can’t see something with your natural eyes doesn’t mean it’s not there or that it doesn’t exist. Elisha’s panic-stricken servant discovered this truth in 2 Kings, when the Syrian army surrounded the prophet’s house to take him captive. “And Elisha prayed, and said, Lord, I pray thee, open his eyes, that he may see. And the Lord opened the eyes of the young man; and he saw: and, behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire round about Elisha” (2Kings 6:17).
When our spiritual eyes are open, we can see our provision and our protection.
PRAYER:
Dear Lord, open my spiritual eyes that I may see Your provision, protection, and the fulfillment of every other need and desire that I have. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
