SCRIPTURE:

thou broughtest us out into a wealthy place. (Psalm 66:12)

DEVOTIONAL:

Let’s start by painting a picture: “For thou, O God, hast proved us: thou hast tried us, as silver is tried. Thou broughtest us into the net; thou laidst affliction upon our loins. Thou hast caused men to ride over our heads; we went through fire and through water…” (Psalm 66:10–12).

Does this sound like a situation you are facing today? Well then, it’s time for you to rejoice! God specializes in turning man’s adversity into triumph—by showing favor to those who belong to Him. His plans for us are for good, and when He brings us out, this is where He causes us to end up, “but thou broughtest us out into a wealthy place” (Psalm 66:12).

Most of us were taught that the “wealthy place” in this verse only relates to money but it means much more than that. Other Bible translations define what “wealthy place” means: a spacious place (RSV), freedom (CEB), place of rest(Septuagint), rich relief and liberty (Moffatt), abundant prosperity (Har), and overflowing abundance (Ber).

This is the picture He desires in each of our lives. He wants us to end up in our wealthy place.

PRAYER:

Dear Lord, thank you that You have a wealthy place for me—a place that is spacious and brings freedom, rest, rich relief, liberty, abundant prosperity, and overflowing abundance. I give You praise for bringing me out of (name a difficulty in your life) and into my wealthy place! In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
