SCRIPTURE:

and I have filled him with the spirit of God, in wisdom, and in understanding, and in knowledge, and in all manner of workmanship, (Exodus 31:3)

DEVOTIONAL:

One main reason why many people, including leaders, have not received what God has planned for them is that they have operated at a lower level of wisdom. Consequently, they have limited themselves. They become intimidated to live or operate in God’s best, or what I call operating “above the line.” Operating above the line means flowing in “the wisdom from above.”

When people live below the line of God’s best for their lives, they end up having “boxed thinking.” It is difficult to flow in leadership or even in life if you’re living within the confines of boxed thinking. You have to think outside of the box in order to function effectively. For Joseph to accomplish the dream that God had given him, he had to think outside the box. Wrong thinking is a dream killer.

Having the right mindset is critical to being an effective, visionary leader. We all need the right thoughts in order to break through barriers of wrong thinking. The devil will try to limit you to earthly, natural wisdom and put you in this box to hinder your fulfillment of your vision. He will do his best to pull your attention away from your calling, to engage you in this “lower level” of sensual and self-gratifying wisdom to make you ineffective as a leader.

In my book, The Spirit of Leadership, I describe fully the components of boxed thinking that will hold you back from becoming the leader God has called you to be.

PRAYER:

Dear God, I decree that I will not be hindered by “boxed thinking.” I take the limits off You, Father, and will walk fully in the vision You have given me. I reject the wrong thinking that satan sends to kill my dreams, and I receive the right mindset that will make me an effective, visionary leader. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
