SCRIPTURE:

for in him we live, and move, and have our being; (Acts 17:28)

DEVOTIONAL:

Connecting with God is all about relationship. Getting to know the God who loves you, saved you, and planned a good life for you. It’s where you learn what moves His heart, and where you allow Him to move yours.

Connection takes place when we respond to our loving God drawing us into eternal life in Him, in whom “we live and move, and have our being.” This union is so strong that the apostle John describes Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross, “In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him” (1 John 4:9).

This month, we will explore just a few of the 100 creative ways that Dr. Veronica Winston shares in her book that show how you can draw closer to God.

Number One:

Praying by reading prayer confessions is a simple and effective way to pray to God. Here we learn to pray according to God’s will and perspective, not complaining or whining, but believing that what He said shall come to pass. Prayer should be sprinkled generously with thanksgiving and praise. Using biblically-based confessions assures that He hears us and that we shall have our petitions answered. (1 John 5:14-15)

PRAYER:

Dear God, thank you that in Jesus, we live and move and have our being and that we have the promise of eternal life. I desire to draw closer to You through my Savior and Lord, Jesus Christ. In His Name, I pray. Amen.
