Covenant Favor
SCRIPTURE:
So then they which be of faith are blessed with faithful Abraham. (Galatians 3:9)
DEVOTIONAL:
Who or what gave us the right to expect God’s favor to flow in our lives? In Genesis, chapter 12, God made a covenant with a man named Abraham. When we say “covenant,” we are referring to a relationship with God.
“Now the Lord had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father’s house, unto a land that I will shew thee: and I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing:”
Everything related to Abraham’s life was blessed. Hear how Abraham’s servant Eleazar talks about him in Genesis 24:34–35: “And he said, I am Abraham’s servant. And the Lord hath blessed my master greatly; and he is become great: and he hath given him flocks, and herds, and silver, and gold, and menservants, and maidservants, and camels, and asses.”
But where do you and I fit in? Galatians 3:7–9 says, “Know ye therefore that they which are of faith, the same are the children of Abraham… So then they which be of faith are blessed with faithful Abraham.” This means you are a child of Abraham. Whatever God did for Abraham He did for you. God wants you to have favor. He wants you in a place of prominence.
PRAYER:
Dear God, thank you that what You did for Abraham You will do for me. By faith, I receive Your covenant blessing of favor through what Jesus did on the cross to bring me into the family of God. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
