Scripture:

Devotion:

At the beginning of a new year, many of us are ready for a fresh, new start. Health, financial, family challenges, tragedies, goals not realized . . . Are you looking back with regret over lost opportunities or things that didn’t go the way you expected? Even if 2017 was a great year for you, there’s just something about a new year that renews and refreshes our vision, hope and dreams for the future.

Well, God is the Master of “new!” Revelation, chapter 21, describes the new heaven and new earth that He has planned for those who are awaiting the Lord’s soon return. And, the New Jerusalem has been prepared for God’s kingdom people: “And he (the apostle John) carried me away in the Spirit to a mountain great and high, and showed me the Holy City, Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God. It shone with the glory of God, and its brilliance was like that of a very precious jewel, like a jasper, clear as crystal…” (verses 10-11).

Wow—And, that’s just the beginning of what God has in store for those who have received Jesus as their Savior and Lord. My friend, have you made this important decision in your life? If not, please pray this life-changing prayer today.

Prayer:

Dear God, I believe that Jesus is the Son of God and that He took the punishment for my sin on the cross. I believe that Jesus was raised from the dead and because of this, I can know that someday I will be resurrected to live with Him forever. I repent of my sins and ask Jesus to be my Savior and Lord. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
