Scripture:

The blessing of the Lord brings wealth, without painful toil for it.
(Proverbs 10:22 NIV)

Devotion:

Faith in Jesus Christ brings Father God on the scene in our lives. Ephesians 2:8 says: “For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God” (NIV)

Out of His grace, comes not only salvation. Another gift we receive through faith is “The Blessing.” As this week’s proverb declares, “the blessing of the Lord brings wealth.” Other translations show clearly that this scripture refers to wealth (riches, prosperity) in our health, finances, family, relationships, and destiny. We are enriched spiritually and materially as God pours out The Blessing in our lives.

How do you get The Blessing? Let’s turn this around for a moment and talk about how you do NOT get The Blessing. Proverbs 10, verse 22, plainly shows WE DO NOT WORK FOR IT. You can pray for hours, fast until you’re skin and bones, give to the poor, and do good deeds for your neighbor. None of these acts, though admirable, produce The Blessing.

Jesus told His disciples (and that includes you and me): “…For all that I require of you will be pleasant and easy to bear” (Matthew 11:30 TPT) Friend, thank God today for The Blessing of the Lord that brings wealth without painful toil!

Prayer:

Lord, I give You thanksgiving and praise for The Blessing. I declare by faith that You have poured out Your Blessing in every area of my life and I am walking in it every day. (Now, take a moment to thank God for specific blessings He has given you.) In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
