The Promise of the Spirit
SCRIPTURE:
“And now I will send the Holy Spirit, just as my Father promised…” (Luke 24:49 NLT)
DEVOTIONAL:
The enemy perhaps has painted some defective pictures in our minds of what God says in His Word. The devil comes to steal, kill and destroy, and has distorted God’s truth, so we want to erase some lies and build a sure foundation in our life.
God does not want us to be ignorant about the things of the Spirit. Remember last week, we read in Galatians 3:14 that He gives us the promise of the Spirit by faith. Fifty days after Jesus ascended to the Father, the Spirit first came to live within the believers (see Acts 2).
This is the fruit of the Spirit living in us that should flow out toward others: “But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things!” (Galatians 5:22–23 NLT).
PRAYER:
Dear Lord, I receive the promise of Your Spirit by faith and thank You that His fruit—love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control—is abundantly flowing in and through me. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
