Scripture:

“The Son of man came eating and drinking, and they say, Behold a man gluttonous, and a winebibber, a friend of publicans and sinners. But wisdom is justified of her children”
(Matthew 11:19)

Devotion:

Jesus was criticized for associating with sinners, but He used godly wisdom and got results. What does the phrase “wisdom is justified of her children” mean? The Good News Translation (GNT) reads, “God’s wisdom, however, is shown to be true by its results.” In other words, the proof of wisdom is results. Jesus answered His critics, [my paraphrase], “You tell me that I’m hobnobbing with sinners, but do you see results?” They saw results!

Remember what Paul said in 1 Corinthians 2:4–5? “And my speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man’s wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power: That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God.” In other words, Paul was no longer going to use the wisdom of men in ministering to the people, not when he was a partaker of God’s wisdom. Every child of God possesses the wisdom of God, it’s your birthright, and it’s time the Church begins to enjoy this heritage.

Access God’s wisdom now through your faith and by meditating the Word of God!

Prayer:

Dear God, I understand there is a difference between man’s wisdom and Your wisdom. Your wisdom brings results! Thank you that Your wisdom dwells in me just like it did Jesus. I act according to the wisdom You give me in (name your situation), and I will see the results. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
