SCRIPTURE:

For if a man is in Christ he becomes a new person altogether—the past is finished and gone, everything has become fresh and new. (2 Corinthians 5:17 PHILLIPS)

DEVOTIONAL:

January 1st ushers in a brand-new year. We make resolutions about our health, our finances, and every other area where we feel we need to get a fresh start. Have you thought about your soul…Are you a new person on the inside? Here’s what God’s Word says about becoming new:

“For if a man is in Christ he becomes a new person altogether—the past is finished and gone, everything has become fresh and new. All this is God’s doing, for he has reconciled us to himself through Jesus Christ; and he has made us agents of the reconciliation. God was in Christ personally reconciling the world to himself—not counting their sins against them—and has commissioned us with the message of reconciliation. We are now Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were appealing direct to you through us. As his personal representatives we say, “Make your peace with God.” For God caused Christ, who himself knew nothing of sin, actually to be sin for our sakes, so that in Christ we might be made good with the goodness of God.” 2 Corinthians 17–21 PHILLIPS)

If you don’t have a personal relationship with God through Jesus Christ, there’s no better time to receive Christ as your Savior and Lord. If you are already born again, you are an ambassador of God’s kingdom and you’ve been called to be His representative, leading others to salvation and a new life in Jesus Christ.

Have a happy and blessed New Year!

PRAYER:

Dear God, I thank You for forgiving me through Your Son Jesus, who paid the price for my sin so that I could become a new person in Him. As we enter into 2022, I invite Your Holy Spirit to teach me, empower me, and use me to bring others into Your kingdom. In Jesus’ Name, amen.
