SCRIPTURE:

And the seventh angel sounded; and there were great voices in heaven, saying, The kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our Lord, and of his Christ; and he shall reign for ever and ever. (Revelation 11:15)

DEVOTIONAL:

(Reading through the book of Daniel, chapter 2, we see represented in the king’s dream several kingdoms that come to power: Babylonian, Medo-Persia, Greece, and Roman empires.)

Finally, we find a whole new system breaking through every form of worldly government:

“Thou sawest till that a stone was cut out without hands, which smote the image upon his feet that were of iron and clay, and brake them to pieces. 35 Then was the iron, the clay, the brass, the silver, and the gold, broken to pieces together, and became like the chaff of the summer threshing floors; and the wind carried them away, that no place was found for them: and the stone that smote the image became a great mountain, and filled the whole earth” (Daniel 2:34–35).

The stone cut without hands was the stone that the builders rejected (Psalm 118:22, Matthew 21:42). That stone is Jesus Christ, who represents God’s Messianic Kingdom. The dream prophesies that the kingdoms of this world will be replaced by the Kingdom of God, as also prophesied in the book of Revelation.

PRAYER:

Dear Lord, I praise You God for Your wisdom, power and compassion toward Your people, and that You are setting up Your kingdom that will ultimately rule the earth—and I will be part of it! In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
