Scripture:

Cease not to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers; That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him:
(Ephesians 1:16-17)

Devotion:

While every believer should desire to receive the wisdom of God, today, let’s focus on the wisdom needed by husbands and fathers. Whether for everyday matters or a big, life-impacting, decision that is facing you, it is vitally important to seek God’s wisdom. God has given husbands and fathers the responsibility to lead and care for their families—and this takes godly wisdom!

Proverbs 4:7 says that “wisdom is the principal thing” and instructs us to get wisdom and understanding. If you are going to be a victorious believer (and husband and father), you must seek after and embrace God’s wisdom! Often, we ask God to do this or that for us—to perform a miracle of healing or provision—when what we really need to ask for is wisdom.

The apostle Paul thought it was so important that he continually asked the Father to give the believers the Spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him. God will always answer such a prayer! Again, in the book of James, the topic of wisdom comes up, and the writer assures the believers that God will give them wisdom liberally when they ask and do not doubt in their hearts.

God will do no less for you. What is it you need wisdom for today—healing in your body, deliverance from an addiction or sin, a relationship restored, or a financial breakthrough? Ask God in faith believing and receive His wisdom and revelation.

Prayer:

Lord, I thank You that You will not refuse my request to give me the wisdom I need for (name your situation or request). I receive Your wisdom now and revelation of the steps I need to take by faith to make right decisions and walk in victory. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
