Scripture:

Surely the Lord God will do nothing, but he revealeth his secret unto his servants the prophets.
(Amos 3:7)

Devotion:

Priests in the New Testament are those who are in the five-fold ministry, full-time. They are the apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors, and teachers, referred to as ministry gifts given to the Body of Christ (Ephesians 4:11–13). Similar to the Old Testament priests, today’s priests still have the responsibility of caring for the house of God, for receiving the tithes (Malachi 3:8–11), and for warning and informing the people of God of what is coming or what God is saying.

Read the opening scripture…”prophets” are the “priests.” Today’s priests are also anointed to teach the Body of Christ and provide interpretation for correct understanding of the Word of God (2 Chronicles 15:3; Acts 8:30–31).

Priests have an unction that gives them insight into knowing the move and the timing of God (1 Kings 18). Oftentimes they receive instructions on how to defeat the enemy and win in battle whether in the marketplace or in people’s personal lives (see 2 Chronicles 20).

Last week, we learned about kings, and this week, about priests. Is the Holy Spirit speaking to you about which divine office you’ve been called to operate in? Kings and priests are a divine partnership—Power, protection and wisdom result when kings and priests come together as God intended.

Prayer:

Father, thank you that You have made Your people to be kings and priests in Your kingdom upon this earth. Reveal unto me whether I am a “priest” or a “king” in Your kingdom. I purpose to operate in whichever divine office You’ve called me—all for Your glory! In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
