The Gospel of the Kingdom
SCRIPTURE:
And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come. (Matthew 24:14)
DEVOTIONAL:
When the disciples asked Jesus what would be the sign of His coming and the end of the world, He told them, “And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come” (Matthew 24:14 emphasis mine).
The Greek word for witness in this verse means “something evidential; with proof or evidence.” Jesus told them not to be deceived by those who come in “My Name” saying, “I am the Christ,” or by the wars and rumors of wars that they would hear. Jesus said the end would not come until the gospel of the kingdom is preached “for a witness”—or with evidence—to every nation (see Matthew 24:14).
This means the gospel will be preached with the evidence of MIRACLES, SIGNS AND WONDERS. The truth is that the gospel of the kingdom was never meant to be preached or proclaimed without the miraculous. In fact, the Bible is a miracle Book and Christianity is a miracle lifestyle. It began in miracles, and it is based on a succession of miracles. If we do not have the supernatural in Christianity, we have nothing to offer the unbeliever except a religion.
PRAYER:
Dear Father, I pray that I would faithfully witness as the Holy Spirit leads and empowers me with the demonstration of the Gospel of the Kingdom in miracles, signs and wonders. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
