SCRIPTURE:

For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.  (2 Timothy 1:7)

DEVOTIONAL:

When my wife and I started our ministry in Chicago, our church was located in one of the highest crime districts in Chicago. When our car was stolen, our family rode the “L” train to church through hot summers and freezing winters. My wife would regularly ride the bus to teach Bible study, holding our small son David with one hand and her guitar in the other. Never once did we fear going to that location. We would confess the Lord was our protector, shield and strength, and continue in faith.

I also remember toward the end of our time of ministry in Tulsa, Oklahoma, my wife and I ended up holding hands with certain gang members in a government housing project, leading them to salvation. We told them, “We’re all going to pray together in this circle and you’re going to get saved.” There was no fear; we trusted in God. I’m a witness that as you boldly advance to occupy your mountain, God will be right by your side. Walk in the authority God gives you.

Even when the mountain you’re to possess isn’t the best or safest place, God is sending you there on purpose and He is with you! Trust Him. You are doing what pleases Him and He will make your enemies to be at peace with you (Proverbs 16:7). Your job is just to trust and obey Him and keep walking by faith.

PRAYER:

Dear God, my trust is in You, and You alone. I do not fear what any person or any government can do to me. Thank you that as I reach out to the lost and hurting, You will be my protector, shield and strength. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
