SCRIPTURE:

And because of His blood, our sins are forgiven. His loving-favor to us is so rich. (Ephesians 1:7 NLV)

DEVOTIONAL:

The word favor in the modern dictionary means “something granted, done out of good will or excessive kindness.” Favored means “treated with preference or given special advantages.” When we say something is favorable or has an advantage, we say something is “providing aid, advantages, or a favorable position.

Another meaning of favor is to assist. For example, you arrive late to a show only to find it sold out. All of a sudden, the usher says he has two seats in the front row. This can be categorized as “divine assistance.” Favor doesn’t always have to be associated with something “spiritual” happening in your life.

Another definition for favor is kindness and grace. Sometimes we use grace and favor interchangeably because it can be translated in most places the same way. Overall, when we are discussing favor, we are talking about divine assistance.”

PRAYER:

(Think of examples of God’s favor in your life, then thank Him!)

Dear Father, I thank You for the many times through Your grace You extended favor to me in difficult situations or in times of need. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
