Scripture:

There is an evil which I have seen under the sun, as an error which proceedeth from the ruler: Folly is set in great dignity, and the rich sit in low place. I have seen servants upon horses, and princes walking as servants upon the earth.
(Ecclesiastes 10:5-7)

Devotion:

This scripture describes, unfortunately, many people in the Body of Christ. Instead of being the lender and never having to borrow, many believe they have to be in debt up to their eyeballs. (I know I used to believe this.) Instead of being “the head” and dictating the terms of their existence, the majority of Christians have been “the tail.” And when you are the tail, you get wagged…that means situations and circumstances controlling you rather than you in control.

Many people have heard the Word of God, some by preaching, others by teaching. Yet, in general, most of these same people are still at the same place spiritually they were five, ten, twenty, or thirty years ago. What’s the problem? In most cases, it’s a failure to meditate the Word that they heard.

Meditation feeds the imagination and is our part in allowing the Holy Spirit to paint a vivid picture of our success and the truth of God’s Word on the canvas of our soul. You actually see and believe God’s promises before they are manifested. This all works on the principle of seedtime and harvest. When you meditate the Word of God, you are actually sowing good seed into your mind which will grow.

Prayer:

Father, I ask You to reveal the truths in Your Word that will make me the head and not the tail. As I meditate Your Word, I “see” the vision of success You have for me. I am open to receiving insight from the Holy Spirit. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
