SCRIPTURE:

for the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost. (Romans 14:17)

DEVOTIONAL:

I describe the kingdom of God this way: It’s about a new government or sovereign kingdom where God rules; a self-contained kingdom first established on Earth in people’s hearts (Luke 17:21). It operates by superior principles from a superior position, and is a new order of living by faith.

In the kingdom, you don’t need to look to other governments or anything else in this world to take care of you. You don’t even have to try to meet your own needs. Jesus said, “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you” (Matthew 6:33).

So the gospel of the kingdom of God is not only a message about salvation and “going to heaven when you die,” but also about heaven brought to Earth. We’re to bring the culture of heaven and spread it throughout the earth.

Under the orders of the King of kings, who is sovereign, we have been given the authority and responsibility to advance, possess and occupy the earth, and to bear fruit for the kingdom of God.

PRAYER:

Dear God, I thank You that Your kingdom lives in my heart and You’ve given the body of Christ the responsibility of spreading Your heavenly kingdom throughout the earth. Fill me with Your wisdom and the anointing of Your Holy Spirit to bring people into Your kingdom. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
