Scripture:

A wise man is strong; yea, a man of knowledge increaseth strength.
(Proverbs 24:5)

Devotion:

The Proverbs are a great source of wisdom for every aspect of life. Let’s look in chapter 24 at the two verses that precedes today’s scripture:

3 Through skillful and godly Wisdom is a house (a life, a home, a family) built, and by understanding it is established [on a sound and good foundation], 4 And by knowledge shall its chambers [of every area] be filled with all precious and pleasant riches.

The Amplified Bible (AMPC) makes clear that we will not be successful in any area of life without wisdom. God’s wisdom prepares and propels us along His path for our lives. Wisdom will provide a solid, unshakable foundation and prosper you with “all precious and pleasant riches.”

The wisdom of the world may fail, but God’s wisdom will give you physical strength and increase as well as spiritual and earthly power:

5 A wise man is strong and [a]is better than a strong man, and a man of knowledge increases and strengthens his power;

Where do you get this indispensable wisdom of God? Wisdom comes from meditating in God’s Word daily, through prayer and listening to the Holy Spirit. Are you spending quality time reading the Bible and in the presence of God? The new year is just around the corner, and it’s a great time to make the pursuit of wisdom a daily habit.

Prayer:

Dear Lord, thank you for Your Word through which I will find wisdom for everything I will face or need today. As I meditate on Your Word and spend time in Your presence, I pray You will strengthen, increase and provide wisdom to transform every area of my life. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
